CHANGE TO MONTHLY MEETING SCHEDULE

As our the calendar section of our website indicates, we have moved our monthly meeting for only this month to Thursday, September 23rd at 6:30pm.  Please check the website for event details.  Newspapers have a lag time that we can not control.  We have moved the date from the 21st to the 23rd because some of our members have another meeting that they are hosting and we do not want to impede on the wonderful impact they are having.  This has been a very busy time for our group and we are jamming in as much as we can. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused people.

We appreciate your time, your sacrifice and your love of country!

This is your last call for the buses to Restoring Honor.

Hello Patriots!   This is your last call for the buses to Restoring Honor.  We have two buses ready to roll and the only thing missing is you, your friends, family, co-workers, the butcher, the baker and the candlestick maker!  This is looking like it’s going to be a MAJOR event.  The organizers are telling people NOT to drive to the event as there will be almost no parking available near the event site.  Also, if you were at the 9/12 event last year, you know that it took HOURS for people to get into the city via the metro, and people were stranded on the bridges in buses and cars throughout the entire day AND we had to start the march 2 hours a head of time because the crowd was so large.

We’re getting ready to close the buses, so if you or someone you know is thinking about going, the time is now to get your money in.  No payment, no seat.  Rooms are also running low, so it’s imperative that you act NOW!

Attached is a handout for the event.  Please feel free to pass in on to anyone and everyone you know, or even complete strangers, if they want to go!  We want to get as many patriots there as possible so Washington knows we’re NOT fooling around and we ARE paying attention!

Bus transportation: $105 per person.  Buses leave from the Home Depot in Pooler off I-95 on Friday August 27th at 7:00am and return on Sunday, August 29th at approximately 8:00pm.  Please send your payment for the bus ASAP.  No refunds as the buses have been hired.  Make checks payable to Elizabeth Mancha, and mail to 16 Marina Dr., Savannah, GA  31411.

Hotel Accommodations: We will be staying at the Capitol Hyatt:  $110 + taxes – Please click here to reserve your room.  This is a great rate for a great hotel and great location.  There are many people looking to share rooms, so if you don’t have a roommate yet, please let us know and we’ll do our best to get you in touch with each other.  The hotel features an indoor pool, fitness center, bar, restaurant, and walking distance to Capitol.   They also have a buffet breakfast for an additional charge.  You can share your room with other patriots to save money and have fun!  Again, please let us know that you’re looking for a roommate and we’ll do our best.

Buses will pick us up at the hotel on the morning of the event and will return us to the hotel afterward.  We will not be able to transport those who do not ride up with us to and from the event.

We have meetings on the 13th of each month at Logan’s Roadhouse on Abercorn.  They generally start at 6:00ish and they are open to the public.  It’s a great opportunity to meet other people in the group, as well as many who are traveling with us in August and September.  We will also distribute a detailed overview of the trip, what to bring, what to expect, etc.

Please call me with any comments, questions, requests, etc. 912.596.5267.

Thanks to everyone who continues to fight for freedom and the foundation on which this great country was founded!

Elizabeth Mancha

EPA Power Grab/Cap and Tax

Call your senators and ask them to support the Murkowski Resolution.  It is a bipartisan effort that would stop the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) plan to enact massive energy regulations under the Clean Air Act.  This backdoor cap and trade scheme would regulate carbon emissions like CO2 and be administered by unelected bureaucrats.  That means sky-high energy costs and lost American jobs as industry moves overseas.  The Murkowski Resolution would stop this EPA power grab and it needs our support.  A vote will be held on Thursday, June 10th and our senators need to hear from us.  This is an important vote that could save jobs and set the stage for the big ‘cap and tax’ showdown this summer.  http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm

Constitutional Protections

“The Commerce Clause of the U.S. Constitution cannot be used to compel people who, under Virginia law, are not obligated to buy insurance, Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli argues in a 41-page response to the federal government. In U.S. District Court in Richmond yesterday, Cuccinelli’s office filed its response to the federal government’s motion to dismiss the attorney general’s lawsuit against President Barack Obama’s health-care reform legislation. ‘If the government prevails, and Congress may use the Commerce Clause to order Americans to buy private health insurance, then Congress will have been granted a virtually unlimited power to order you to buy anything,’ Cuccinelli said in a statement after his office filed the response.” – Richmond Times Dispatch

13th Colony Patriots supports other Georgia Tea Party Groups Statement on

Illegal Immigration

13th Colony Patriots along with Georgia Tea Party Patriots and other Tea Party groups, supports legal immigration and applauds those who desire to be Americans and follow the legal channels to achieve that dream, but strongly opposes illegal immigration and rejects any immigration reform bill granting amnesty.

Although we realize that many immigrants who are here illegally have come to make a living for their families, it is unfair to reward those who are breaking our laws when so many others follow America‘s immigration policies in their quest to live and prosper in America.  Amnesty would punish those who adhere to the existing procedures.

The economic impact of undocumented workers places an enormous strain on government services.  Our borders must also be secure for national security purposes. Persons in this country illegally and unscreened, pose a great security risk.

Due to the fact that most illegal immigrants have a low income level (and are generally not taxed) they qualify for public assistance programs.  Imagine adding 12 million new members to the welfare and healthcare systems in this country.  In addition, their lack of education puts a tremendous strain on our resources where they have become dependent on state and federal programs for health, tax-payer-funded education, food, and shelter.

Once granted citizenship (either through amnesty or through the normal channels), they have the right to bring over additional family members, adding even more members to the welfare rolls.  No level of government, due to the current economic conditions, can afford this increasing burden.

A study conducted by the Heritage Foundation in 2007 showed the net cost of retirement benefits only when those granted amnesty reach retirement age to be an additional $2.6 trillion.

We support fiscal responsibility at all levels of government. Therefore, we strongly oppose any legislation granting amnesty to persons in the United States illegally.

We understand that no government can withstand the financial strain that those who are here illegally have put on our financial resources and national security.  As such, we stand in solidarity with Arizona and encourage our legislators to pass a similar law in Georgia.

CITIES BOYCOTTING ARIZONA

When planning your next family vacation, business deal, company expansion or relocation, please remember which cities in America are boycotting Arizona because of its stand to protect our borders and keep Arizona citizens safer.

The following cities are either forbidding their employees from traveling to Arizona, or are calling for a general boycott of Arizona. Some are even calling for a ban on any future contracts with the state.
San Francisco, CA
St. Paul, MN
Oakland, CA
Los Angeles, CA
San Diego, CA
West Hollywood, CA
Long Island Wins, NY
Denver, CO Public School District Board
Boulder, CO
Boston, MA
Sacramento, CA – Mayor initially called for boycott
El Paso, TX
Los Angeles, CA
Austin, TX
Seattle, WA
Pasadena, CA – Not technically a boycott, but a resolution of condemnation

REMINDERS

You have until June 21st to register to vote.  Please make sure that you are registered to vote and check you voter status by visiting http://www.sos.georgia.gov/MVP/Login.aspx

Representative Hill has recruited some very powerful friends to help save her campaign at a rally in St. Mary’s:

  • Rep. David Ralston (Blue Ridge), Speaker of the House.  Served 6 years in the Senate.  Served 8 years in the House. (Total years, 14)
